British subtext: Half of Americans wouldn’t be able to tell that a Briton is calling them an idiot

To date my most viral piece of social media content for YouGov, receiving more than 6,000 retweets and 15,000 likes. This piece came about from a desire to examine the truth behind an old meme on the difference between what British people say and what they actually mean.

The article received widespread media coverage, with the BBC’s write-up of the piece being the most-read article on the BBC News website that day.
